Bruxing & boggling
In rats, bruxing (gentle tooth-grinding) and boggling (the eyes appearing to vibrate) are signs of a deeply content, relaxed rat — often during a favourite scratch.
Context matters: soft, happy bruxing is contentment, but loud, hard tooth-grinding in a hunched rabbit or other prey animal can instead signal pain — so read it alongside body language.
