Your data, and how we handle it

🔒 The “My pets” tracker never leaves your device

When you add a pet, log a weight, or save a note in thecare scheduler & husbandry log — or when a tool remembers your species — that information is stored only in your own web browser (using a feature called local storage). It is:

• Kept on your device — there's no account and no server holding it, so it never leaves your hands.
• Yours, and private — it's your record to keep an eye on and to bring to your vet, not something we look over.
• Yours to remove anytime — delete a pet or entry in the tool, or clear your browser's site data, and it's gone.

Because it lives in one browser on one device, it won't follow you to a different browser or phone — and clearing your browsing data will erase it. You can use “Download my log” in the tool to keep your own copy.

Email — only if you ask for it

If you choose to sign up for our email updates, we collect the email address you give us, so we can send the small-pet care content you asked for. That's the only personal detail we ask for, and only when you opt in.

• Our email list is managed by EmailOctopus, which processes your address on our behalf; we don't pass it to anyone else.
• Every email has a one-click unsubscribe — leave whenever you like.
• We use it to send helpful care content — never to sell you out or hand your address to third parties.

Hosting & basic technical data

Hayfold is a fast, static website served through Cloudflare. Like any website, its servers automatically process standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We don't use this to build a profile of you.

Cookies & tracking

We keep this simple: Hayfold does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we don't run third-party analytics that profile you. The only thing we store on your device is the on-device tracker described above — which is for your convenience, not our surveillance.

What we never do

• We never sell your data.
• We never share it for third-party advertising.
• We don't require an account to read our guides or use our tools — access is never gated behind a login.

Your choices & your rights

You're in control: you can clear the on-device tracker at any time, and you can unsubscribe from email with one click. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold (in practice, that's only your email address if you've subscribed). Children

Hayfold is a general-audience pet-care site and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this notice

If our practices change — for example if we ever add optional accounts that sync your tracker across devices — we'll update this page and the “last updated” date above before that change goes live, and describe exactly what's different.
