Fluffy / cotton-wool bedding (danger)
Fluffy, cotton-wool-style “fibre” bedding is dangerous for small pets — its thin strands can be swallowed or wrap around limbs, cutting off circulation and costing an animal a foot or its life.
It’s widely sold but should never be used for hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats or chinchillas. Safe nesting is plain paper, tissue or hay, which they can shred and won’t tangle in.
