Patagium (gliding membrane)
The patagium is the stretchy membrane running from wrist to ankle on each side of a sugar glider, which it spreads to glide between surfaces — and which can tear if it catches on cage fittings.
It’s why a glider’s nest box must have headroom (so raised elbows don’t rub the roof) and why cage furniture must be snag-free.
