Insulinoma

An insulinoma is a pancreatic tumour, very common in ferrets over about three years old, that overproduces insulin and drops blood sugar dangerously low — causing weakness, staring, drooling, collapse or seizures.

There’s no cure, but medical and surgical treatment can manage it. Sugary foods spike insulin and worsen it, which is one reason ferrets should never be fed fruit or sweet treats.
